Face and contour treatments in Munich-Bogenhausen

The lips, chin, jawline and midface influence one another. An individual area is therefore always considered in relation to the whole face.

What change would you like to make?

A more defined profile, a different lip shape or less hollow cheeks are different wishes. It helps to begin the consultation by describing the area and the change you would like to make. This also includes what you like about your face and would like to preserve.

The lips, chin, cheeks and lower face are considered together. A treatment decision is based on proportions, skin and tissue, as well as your expectations.

Lips: shape, contour and proportions

For the lips, the concern may be contour, fullness or the proportions of the upper and lower lip. These wishes are discussed separately. A particular lip shape in a photograph cannot be transferred unchanged to another face.

The page on Filler treatment explains the procedure, its limitations and risks. Whether lip treatment is an option also depends on existing products and previous treatments.

Chin and jawline: considering the profile

The jawline is the line of the lower jaw. When discussing contour, the chin, lower jaw and transition to the neck are assessed together. A less defined jawline does not automatically mean a lack of volume.

When deciding on fillers to change contour , it is important to distinguish between the desired shape, volume distribution and declining tissue firmness. Additional fullness can also change a contour unfavourably.

Cheeks and midface: fullness and transitions

In the midface, the cheeks, eye area and transition to the lower face are connected. The consultation explores whether your concern is a lack of fullness, a change in contour or the skin surface itself.

If you would like more volume, the fillers page provides further information. Fine lines or shadows around the eyes are discussed separately on the page about the Eye area and its treatment options.

Distinguishing between volume loss and tissue laxity

A loss of fullness and declining tissue firmness may occur at the same time. However, they call for different considerations: adding volume changes fullness; it does not automatically address a wish for a firmer contour.

If your main aim is a smoother surface or less visible pores, the concern is skin texture. Pronounced excess skin limits what non-surgical procedures can achieve. In that case, a specialist consultation may be the more appropriate next step.

What needs to be clarified before treatment

Treatment does not promise a particular shape or lasting symmetry. Before an injection, swelling, bruising, infections and rare serious complications are also discussed. The specific risks depend on the procedure, product and treatment area.

Unclear previous treatments, acute inflammation or expectations that a method cannot meet may make treatment unsuitable.

How to prepare for your consultation

  1. Describe the change you would like to make and what you would like to preserve.
  2. If available, bring details of previous treatments, products and dates.
  3. Discuss medication, medical conditions and possible reasons why treatment may be unsuitable.
  4. Compare possible steps, limitations, risks and the option of choosing no treatment.
